Intern Diary: Allyson
From the moment I first followed JMG’s Instagram, I knew this was a company I wanted to intern with and learn from. The social media feed was a vibrant mix of work culture highlights, educational content, and fun memes. It showcased a unique and approachable brand identity that stood out from other companies and immediately drew me in. I was incredibly nervous during my first interview with Jenna. I worried about all the ways I could mess up an opportunity that I wanted so badly.
But Jenna’s positivity and warmth quickly put me at ease. Within seconds, I felt more confident and excited about the opportunity. She created a workplace culture where individuality and responsibility go hand in hand, and I deeply admire her leadership for that.
On my first day, I was welcomed by Arcely, JMG’s Content Coordinator, who instantly made me feel like part of the team. Arcely was an incredible mentor throughout my internship, always supporting me as I balanced my responsibilities at JMG with a demanding school schedule. When I faced challenges, she was there to guide me, whether it was refining my Canva skills or helping me master brand consistency—something I struggled with at first. Her constructive feedback pushed me to grow, and each time I fell short or didn’t reach my full potential, she ensured I knew exactly how to improve.
What truly sets JMG apart is its remarkable virtual work culture. Despite being remote, the team feels closely connected, thanks to initiatives like “Sip the Tea” sessions and end-of-day calls. These moments foster not just collaboration but genuine friendships among employees, making the experience at JMG unlike any other internship or job I’ve had. The experience instilled a new outlook for me on internships and has been one of the best and most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had.
The entire team welcomes you like family, is a friendly shoulder for you to lean on, and genuinely wants everyone to be the best that they can be. I leave this internship with new skills and a new appreciation for the Public Relations field as a whole. I cannot wait to use the experience I’ve learned here to better myself and to utilize at work experiences in the future. A special thank you to all of the employees at JMG, but especially Arcely and Alexandra for pushing me to my fullest, teaching me about a professional virtual workspace that I hadn’t experienced before, and being the brightest people to work with each day.
