Intern Diary: Ava

My decision to apply for the JMG Public Relations Internship was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I remember how during the interview, Jenna was so kind yet still held herself so professionally and I knew that was the kind of company I was interested in working for. During my four months as an intern, I had such an enriching and enjoyable experience. This internship also solidified my decision to pursue the public relations field. From the beginning, I felt so supported and welcomed by the team and I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from them!

One of the highlights I had from the experience was working closely with my account coordinator, Ryleigh. I would start my day off meeting with her and it would always ensure my day began on an encouraging and cheerful note. She would make sure that I was never overwhelmed with repetitive tasks. Thanks to her mentorship, I felt confident tackling various responsibilities. Some of my favorite assignments included  drafting press releases, pitches and building media lists. I appreciated the responsibility and trust I was given to complete these tasks.

Another standout part of my internship was the variety of clients we worked with. This range helped me develop a deeper understanding of different industries and gave me insight into the potential areas of public relations I may want to specialize in. One of the most memorable parts of JMG PR was the Sip the Tea zooms where we would discuss pop culture and current events. Aside from these conversations being fun and entertaining, they were also exceptionally informative and helped me stay up to date with recent news.

I especially admired the collaborative culture that Jenna fostered. The end-of-day calls with the whole team where we would share what we accomplished that day, emphasized this inclusivity. Overall, my time at JMG PR was such a valuable experience and helped me grow both professionally and personally. I am so grateful to Jenna for this opportunity, Ryleigh and Cara for guiding me, and the whole team for being so welcoming!
